About Executive Chef Manny Carganilla Jr
He was born in Philippines and moved to Vancouver Canada at age 10. His discovery of his love for fool, fueled by his parent’s home cooking, watching food shows and eating out with family and friends all helped develop a passion for cooking.
Manny pursued that career path and graduated from VCC Culinary School in 2006. During his school years, from 2005 to 2007, he divided his time by working at the Vancouver Convention Center as a prep cook and as a commis-chef at River Rock Casino Resort. This lead to a full-time position at the River Rock where he moved from fromcommis-chef to demi-chef and to chef-de-partie.
Over 5 years, he worked all the departments, completing his Red-seal training apprenticeship by 2010. He expanded his craft and skills as the Executive Sous Chef position at the Richmond Executive Hotel Resort and later as the Restaurant Head Chef at Hard Rock Casino Vancouver. Since taking on the role in 2015, as Executive Chef at the Executive Hotel Plaza Metro-Vancouver in Coquitlam BC, his culinary style continues to evolve.
